Anyone wishing to drive vehicles weighing more than 3,500kg must undergo LGV/ HGV training. Once completed, this course equips you with a Rigid/ Class 2/ LGV licence, leaving you fully equipped to work within an industry where LGV drivers are in high demand. You’ll be taught by an experienced instructor who’s fully NRI-accredited and holds a current DBA/ CRB certificate. If you’d prefer to be taught by a female instructor, one can be made available.

Minibus/ Bus Training

If your chosen profession involves transporting people rather than goods, you’ll be required to hold a Category D or D1 licence. For relevant transport training, Southampton customers need look no further than Wayside Transport. As with heavy goods vehicles, your standard driver’s licence is insufficient to drive a minibus/ bus. The principal difference between a D and D1 licence is that the former lets you drive any bus with more than eight passenger seats (with a trailer up to 750kg).

The D1 licence, on the other hand, only permits you to drive a vehicle with no more than 16 passenger seats that is a maximum length of eight metres, with a trailer up to 750kg. As with our LGV training, you’ll receive one-to-one tuition from fully accredited instructors.
