What is ADR?

ADR or the European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road relates to the haulage of dangerous or hazardous goods by hauliers. If these goods are being transported by road or by vehicle on a ship, the required training must be carried out in line with international regulations. The agreement has been in place for the last 50 years and is updated every couple of years to ensure that it remains relevant.

Do I Require an ADR Driver Training Certificate?

If you routinely operate as a haulier and transport goods known to be dangerous or hazardous, then you fall within the criteria of needing an ADR Driver Training Certificate. Here at Wayside Transport, our ADR training courses are designed to promote awareness among drivers of the dangers that are involved with transporting such goods. You’ll be equipped with the knowledge you’ll need to help reduce the likelihood of an incident occurring.

Such a course will teach awareness of not only the personal safety of the individual but also the safety of those around them as well as the environment. Upon successful completion of ADR training, the SQA will issue an ADR Driver Training Certificate valid for five years. If you already have an active licence that is due to expire, you MUST book in your refresher training at least six weeks before the expiry date to avoid any legal ramifications.
