Allmi Lorry Loader Training

Wayside Transport provides ALLMI-accredited lorry loader operator training, commonly referred to as HIAB training, for operators of vehicle mounted cranes.

This course is designed to ensure operators understand their responsibilities and are able to operate lorry loader cranes safely, competently, and in accordance with recognised industry standards.

Delegates attend from a wide range of locations across the South of England. Please contact us to confirm current course availability, locations, and dates.

What Is ALLMI Lorry Loader Training?

ALLMI (Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers) is the recognised UK body representing lorry loader manufacturers and importers. It sets the industry standard for lorry loader operator training.

ALLMI training focuses specifically on:

  • Vehicle mounted cranes (lorry loaders)
  • Safe lifting operations
  • Load handling and crane stability
  • Legal duties of operators and employers

Successful candidates receive an ALLMI Operator Card, which is widely recognised within the lifting and transport industry.

Course Types & Duration

We can offer the following ALLMI lorry loader training courses:

Course Type Duration Maximum Delegates Eligibility
Novice Operator Course 2 days Up to 4 delegates For novice ALLMI crane operators
Refresher Course 1 day Up to 4 delegates For existing ALLMI lorry loader card holders
Experienced Operator Course 1 day Up to 4 delegates For lorry loader operators holding RTITB, NPORS, AITT, CPCS, Lantra or ITSSAR certification (provided the certificate issue date is within 5 years and 6 months of the ALLMI course start date)

This ensures training is delivered safely, with sufficient time for both practical operation and assessment.

ALLMI vs Other Accreditation Schemes (RTITB, NPORS, CPCS)

There are several accreditation bodies within the lifting and construction sectors. The most common include:

  • ALLMI – Specialist body for lorry loader cranes

  • RTITB – Broad materials handling and lifting equipment training

  • NPORS / CPCS – Primarily construction-focused plant accreditation

ALLMI training is specifically designed for vehicle mounted cranes and is widely recognised within the transport and lifting industries.

If you currently hold certification from another awarding body and are unsure whether refresher or conversion training is appropriate, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
