To operate a forklift truck, adequate training needs to be taken, and here at Wayside Transport we can provide specialist courses. We have a team of fully qualified trainers that take you through all the relevant steps in order to get you up to speed. Below, we explain what is involved in the training and the categories that we cover.
Why Undergo Forklift Truck Training?
Depending on the nature of your job, you may legally need to be trained to operate a forklift truck. To adhere to the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, employers are required to offer training to individuals that operate specific equipment. This way, employees will be aware of the relevant health and safety practices.
In addition to this, the training is necessary so that employees are well versed in the best methods to operate a forklift. They will also be aware of any possible risks and precautions that are needed when using this particular equipment. Here at Wayside Transport, we have qualified experts that offer courses in a variety of categories, ensuring that nothing is missed.
What to Expect from Your Chosen Course
Learning from our experienced and knowledgeable instructors will get you on your way to being able to operate a forklift safely and efficiently. The length of the course can vary depending on the ability level of the individual undergoing training. Some people come to us as novices, while others simply want a refresher. You will need to be at least 16 years old to operate a forklift, and you should be prepared for a practical test.
Your instructor will talk you through what is required before you are assessed. A pre-shift check test will be required, as will a theory test and a practical operational test. Once you have completed the course and passed all the necessary measures, you will receive a certificate.
